Pound Lit Press Anthology

The "Terminal Earth" Anthology

"It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine."
R.E.M. (1987)
Our world is about to end. Tell us a story with this as the backdrop. Make it intelligent, well-written fiction for grown-ups.

Wander into genres of your choice, if it’s good it has a chance. Read the do-not-want list to avoid wasting your time. Obviously the theme of the collection tilts towards sci-fi, which we love, but it doesn’t have to be and non-sci-fi stories have a great chance of getting in.

Be imaginative, be daring, be smart.

You can tell us how the world ends, or you can just allude to it. What we're really interested in is what ordinary and extraordinary people will be doing as the last grains of sand run out. Poundlit Press will print this book in Spring/Summer 2010. Deadline for stories: open until March 15th, 2010.

Do Not Want!

  • Zombies. There are excellent specific presses for zombies, we are not one.
  • Sexy vampires. No thanks.
  • Mad Max clones. If you do try full-on apocalyptic action, make it special, not derivative.
  • Blowing up incoming comets/meteors. We’ve all seen Bruce Willis do it already.
  • Centaurs and goblins. This is Earth, not Narnia.
  • No gore-fests or pornos! Violence and sex crucial to the story are fine, of course.
  • Stories that are littered with basic grammar and spelling mistakes. It's highly likely we will not read such stories all the way through. We are not your proof readers!

Editorial Quirks

  • No simultaneous submissions.
  • One submission per author please.
  • No reprints.
  • No poems, this is fiction only.
  • Keep an eye on the blog page for updates on the book!
  • Responses should be within about 4-6 weeks, almost certainly sooner.
